The Cal VIEW Philosophy of Distance Education

A message from the Director:

The Cal VIEW program in the College of Engineering has 15 years of experience providing IC design courses in a distance-education mode to industry professionals
working in the high-tech industries.

The teaching model the program follows is to
hire a talented, articulate Ph.D. student of the
professor, whose course is being taught, to
serve as a mentor-facilitator for those enrolled
in the course.

These are the same courses as the full-semester length EECS Courses* that are taught on the Berkeley campus.

They are available on DVDs and they are eligible for transfer credit to M.S. degree programs offered at other schools throughout the world. To receive academic credit for these courses at your own institution, check with your school's academic advisor. At your request, Cal VIEW will provide you with a letter from the professor teaching the course, confirming that the course is indeed his/her course taught regularly on the Berkeley campus.
