Director, Multicultural Engineering Program
|
Academic Coordinator II Salary Range: $56,424-$81,912 Application Period: August 1-August 31 The Director will be apopinted for a two-year period with possible subsequent renewals.
Applications
are invited for a Director of the Charles Tunstall Multicultural
Engineering Program (MEP). MEP serves 200 underrepresented
undergraduate engineering students, and is open to all UC Berkeley
engineering students. The Director reviews and recruits applicants,
supervises academic workshops, coordinates an intensive
study/orientation summer program, counsels and advises MEP students,
serves as an industry liaison, prepares program descriptions and
year-end reports and develops program budget. The Director coordinates
with other CUES programs, with the Engineering Student Affairs Office,
and with other campus programs, advises engineering student societies,
represents MEP to outside agencies and serves on campus committees. The
Director collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Special Programs in
preparing funding proposals to outside agencies.
Baccalaureate
and graduate degrees (preferably in Engineering, Mathematics or
Physical Science), or equivalent professional experience are required.
At least four years of related experience is preferred. Candidates
should have a demonstrated commitment to the educational development of
underrepresented minorities, excellent written and oral communication
skills and an ability to develop and maintain productive working
relationships with diverse groups. Experience in academic program
administration, advising undergraduate engineering students, group
facilitation, community building and curriculum development is
desirable.
