Faculty Honors

On November 11, CS Professor David Patterson was named to the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame. He will be formally inducted at a February event. Patterson led the design and implementation of RISC I, likely the first VLSI Reduced Instruction Set Computer. This research became the foundation of the SPARC architecture, used by Sun Microsystems and others. The Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame recognizes the accomplishments of Silicon Valley engineers who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and have made significant contributions to the community.
