Alumni HonorsEngineering alumna Amparo Flores (B.S.’96 CEE) was among 40 new recipients of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Flores will be pursuing a Ph.D. at Cambridge University in England in the area of environmentally sustainable solutions in engineering, particularly the implementation of ecological sanitation in developing countries. Flores majored in environmental engineering at Cal and received a master’s degree in engineering from MIT in 1998. She has since worked as an environmental consultant and water quality engineer.
