A great way to stay connected with your alma mater
Graduates of the Last Decade offers fun socials for young alumni!
Whether you’re going on to graduate school or to a new
job, you’re always welcome back at northside. The College makes
it easy to stay involved.
Your social connection is GOLD, Graduates Of the Last Decade, a program
for recent alumni. GOLD alumni get together for fun socials and activities
around the Bay Area. By staying involved with the College as GOLD alumni,
you can meet and network with other Berkeley Engineering alums.
Margarita Constantinides (B.S.’02 CEE), who is now a CEE Ph.D.
student in materials research, enjoys going to GOLD events. “Everyone
follows a different path, and it’s exciting to see what young
Berkeley alumni have accomplished in their first few years after graduation,” she
says.
Another important purpose of GOLD is to help you stay connected with
the College. GOLD alumni are invited to return to campus and share
career tips with current students by serving as panelists at Real World
Engineering or by serving as mentors. GOLD alumni may also join the
GOLD Volunteer Committee to help out with College events and projects.
Constantinides did just that. “As an undergraduate, I noticed
that there was little funding for student groups,” she explains. “As
I researched things further, I realized that there is something alumni
can do to help, so I volunteer with GOLD.”
The College always appreciates alumni who make a donation to the Berkeley
Engineering Annual Fund and who encourage others to do so. The fund
supports student leadership opportunities, undergraduate research programs,
student resources and much more.
“We are number one in almost everything,” Constantinides says. “We
can’t let other schools have better fundraising and higher alumni
participation than Berkeley Engineering!”
