Go Bears! Cal's 'phenomenal' 2004 football season

Defensive tackle Tom Sverchek tangled with Stanford quarterback T.C. Ostrander as the Bears crushed the Cardinals 41-6 in the 107th Big Game.

The Bears’ “phenomenal” 10-1 season ended in a No. 4 ranking in the sportswriters’ and coaches’ polls, in the top six for both offensive and defensive scoring, and with a margin of victory averaging 24 points.

At press time, the Bears were heading for the Holiday Bowl after the BCS poll eclipsed their chances of a Rose Bowl appearance.
